I’ve been answering some questions that have come to me through private message. This one was: “Can you have this procedure done and in 48 hours walk out of the office with your final smile?” Absolutely not! That is a bold face lie. Those dentists out there (and you know who you are) that offer this procedure, bring it, challenge me on this. I’ve personally visited your clinics, been to your consultations and say in your examination chair. I have seen what you tell patients and yes, I’m sure you even recognize my face. Honestly, I don’t know how you sleep at night. There is no way on God’s green earth you should ever ever ever trust anyone that says they can give you the final smile in 24 to 48 hours. Are you kidding me? It’s basic anatomy, really. The amount that your mouth changes, your gums resorb, the inflammation that happens during the surgery, the way it completely reconstructs your mouth. Statements like these, should be illegal as far as I’m concerned. So, I appreciate the follower who asked me this question because it has given me the opportunity to really share on this specific topic.
I actually went with my mom to one of these consultations. This practice is huge and they actually have a few offices nationwide, one of them being in Dallas. Luckily, I went in and met the head guy himself, he was pretty proud of himself. I sat there and listened to what he told my mom about her case. He knew she was in a denture for over 20 years. He still said, “Yep, we can do it and in 24 hours you’ll have your final smile.” Seriously? I wanted to say, “How many people have bought this lie and now how many are out there with a gap in their gums that you could fly an airplane through?” The amount of long-term damage that this does to people is just a sin. For those of you that are looking for a practitioner by attending a consultation, beware! Remember, if you ever go into one and they say “Yeah, we can give it to you 48 hours and then you’re done!” Run away! Temporaries yes, you should walk out of surgery with some teeth but it better not be your final set!
